i LOVE this produce store. in fact it's the main thing i'm going to miss once we move. we live about a block away and i drop in easily 3 times a week, almost daily in the summer. they've got great produce but they also carry a lovely array of organic/specialty items on their shelves -- cheaper than you would find them elsewhere!
high prices? compared to whom? save-on? nope! superstore? perhaps, but you get what you pay for?
counter help has vastly improved in the last couple of years (there used to be one cashier wouldn't bag my items unless it was in their plastic -- wtf?? was like she didn't know how to pack a cloth bag or something. she was odd. she's gone now thankfully) -- the lady with the short hair is my fave :) -

What a shame that this quaint little Japanese produce store has been bought out and gone so downhill, I'm not one to write negative reviews but the place is a mess and there's no customer service any more. Many products are not available anymore as well.....

Friendly staff, fresh produce. My family was visiting Vancouver. Just happened to eat at Spicy House few doors down. Decided to grab some fruits for my young ones. Good apple and strawberries. And great looking mandarin that I never got to eat since it got confiscated at US Border.

I have been coming here for years, and it is always consistently good. Everything is fresh - even the veggies and fruit that they put into their $1 discounted bags on the rack outside. Nice selection of local baked goods, Asian staples, and interesting juices/sodas. Service is quick and polite. And they're always playing CBC Radio 2! Leisurely grocery trips accompanied by classical music? Awesome.

A surprisingly well stocked, tidy grocery and produce market. The prices are quite high but they have a good variety of products including a lot of special needs diet foods.
P.S. I wasn't crazy about the counter help :-/
